Candy Candy~

HiArt (one of the places I teach) often has occasional holiday art camps for kids, in which we create art based on interesting themes. I've worked/taught camps that involved Anime themes such as Naruto, Inuyasha, Azumanga Daioh. Others included Shakespeare plays such as Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, etc.

For the last two weeks (spring break for private schools in NYC) we had this awesome Candy World Camp. Nickolas Lascot taught us how to make candy/cakes/dessert sculptures; we drew candy monsters; went to see the Will Cotton show; and did watercolor illustrations based on the Jean Dubuffet's "Welcome Parade" sculptures in the 590 Madison Ave Atrium. It was a blast!
